Campinas recorded 38 complaints of workplace electoral harassment, the highest number in the interior of São Paulo according to the Ministério Público do Trabalho. The figure exceeds the 2024 municipal election total but is lower than the 2022 peak.

According to the Ministério Público do Trabalho, the region surrounding Campinas recorded 38 formal complaints of electoral harassment in the workplace, the highest count among the interior regions of São Paulo.

These complaints are twice the number reported by the next highest regions, Ribeirão Preto and São José dos Campos, each with 19 cases.

The tally for Campinas surpasses the 33 complaints logged during the 2024 municipal elections but remains well below the 89 complaints recorded in 2022.

Other interior regions reported far fewer incidents: Araçatuba had zero, Araraquara three, Bauru 13, Presidente Prudente four, São José do Rio Preto 18, and Sorocaba nine.

To monitor and address these cases, the MPT will conduct a mobilization on Saturday the 24th and Sunday the 25th, operating from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at all its interior units.

The initiative aims to safeguard workers’ freedom of political conviction and to counter employer practices that seek to coerce, induce, or pressure employees regarding their voting choices.

At the MPT‑15 headquarters in Campinas, up to three prosecutors and up to two support staff will be assigned for each voting shift.

Citizens can submit their reports directly through the MPT’s electronic channels, which are available for use during the mobilization period.
